Baby Locks

I've been putting off Elijah's 1st haircut for a long time...mainly because I couldn't stand to see the last thread of his babyhood snipped away, literally.

Hmmm...I sound a little melodramatic. He is not a full-fledged toddler, yet. But he is teetering on the edge, and besides that his long-ish hair was getting all in his food when he ate, plus he was being mistaken for a girl more often than not. So. It was time.

We went to Pigtails and Crewcuts (for perhaps the 1st and last time...nothing against fancy kids hair salons, but we can accomplish the job just fine with Paul's hair clippers next time). I wanted to mark the occasion with a professional 1st cut and get the lock of hair, photo, etc. It actually worked out great because their printer was not working to print the photo and so I was only charged for the basic haircut instead of the "1st Haircut Package". They emailed me the photo and we'll just print it out ourselves.

The actual haircut itself was a real non-event...it happened so quickly! She whisked him up in the chair, whisked the scissors round his head, and voila! It was done. Nary a complaint was heard from Elijah during the whole thing.

I will miss running my fingers through his baby mullet, although I'm sure it will grow back quickly. It's just that those were his FIRST wittle hairs, so they held a special place in my heart. *Sigh*
